Holistic Massage

What is holistic massage and bodywork?
Holistic massage essentially means treating the whole of the client, not just their body. I draw from many traditional techniques of massage such as Swedish massage, percussion and focused deep tissue work. I also incorporate stretches, passive joint mobilisations, gentle energy holds and other techniques acquired from shiatsu and massage workshops. These are all tools that I can use during the massage, as required. My broad, open approach means that no two massages are the same and I use my sensitivity and knowledge to create a deeply effective massage.
Holistic massage and bodywork can help support you through whatever is happening in your life. Holistic massage encompasses the whole of you: physical, emotional, mental and spiritual.
What does massage actually do?
Most people come for a massage because their bodies ache. Massage can help to ease these aches by directly working on these areas to bring relief. Regular massage can help if you lead quite a sedentary life or spend a lot of time hunched over a computer. It can also help if you’re active or sporty and feel that your body could do with a bit of ironing out.
Massage can also bring deep relaxation and release from the stress, anxiety and the emotions that we carry around in our bodies. Massage to ease tense muscles and help with old injuries or ongoing illness can often have a deeper effect than expected; many people benefit from the non-intrusive, compassionate touch they experience during the massage. This can have an effect on the energy of the body, helping to gently balance emotions and give a sense of well-being. It’s a benefit of massage that is hard to quantify as it is different for every person, but most of my clients do leave feeling better than when they arrived; physically and emotionally.
What I Offer
I offer one hour massage sessions that are tailor made for you.
During an initial consultation, we will discuss your needs and decide which areas of the body need the most attention. This means that I can focus on specific areas where you hold your tension for example shoulders, back or neck. Everyone is different so I prefer to approach the treatment session with your needs in mind, not a set routine. If you are unsure about what you want, that’s absolutely fine too. Some people know exactly where they hold their tension, some people don’t. We will work it out together and create a treatment for you that is both relaxing and deeply effective.
