Homeopathy

What is Homeopathy?

 (1) Barbara Winton
Babies, children, adults and elderly people with a wide range of conditions can all benefit from homeopathy. Homeopathy helps the person by stimulating their own healing efforts. As it is a safe gentle therapy, it can be used with care during pregnancy, childbirth and for young babies as well as for those with long-term chronic illness.

The homeopathic remedies are given as tablets, and may be given individually to stimulate the healing energy of the patient or in low potency form more frequently to gently strengthen the person over time.

People helped by homeopathy include those with low energy, insomnia, hormonal imbalances such as PMT and menopausal problems, migraine, respiratory problems including sinus, digestive and bowel disorders, skin complaints, repeated infections, arthritis, emotional stresses, anxiety, depression and behavioural disorders. People with acute ailments such as tonsillitis, ear infections, coughs and bronchitis may also respond well to treatment.

(2) Jill Etheridge explains from her point of view

I would say that more people attend about eczema than any other single complaint. It may not be an easy ride, but is very satisfying once it begins to clear up after perhaps years of misery. Whatever people want help with, they need to be prepared for at least several (usually monthly) visits. I really enjoy working with people who want to enhance their emotional life; or clear up recurrent infections once and for all; or improve their breathing; in fact with all manner of hopes and intentions.
The first consultation is one-and-a-half hours for an adult, because it’s essential for me to get a really good picture of all kinds of information about the person who’s attending. The choice of remedy sometimes depends almost as much on the personality as on the symptoms, because the major homeopathic remedies are very wide-ranging rather than disease-specific.

Remedies are chiefly prepared from the plant and mineral kingdoms, with some from animal or insect material, humanely gathered.
The extensive dilution and ‘succussion’ process has two effects: firstly, nothing toxic remains, even from substances like Arsenic, Mercury or Belladonna (Deadly Nightshade), for example; and secondly an incredible release of power takes place. (We call it potentisation of a substance, so the number after the name of the remedy indicates how many stages of dilution / succussion have taken place to reach this ‘potency’.)

I referred to an ‘incredible’ release of power; because this is the bit of the homeopathic process that causes the most scepticism from many medical and scientific experts. However, as the Quantum principles are more thoroughly understood and their effects able to be measured to an exceedingly fine degree, we may come nearer to describing the mechanism. It would be a mistake to think there is nothing real which is as yet unexplained in Science!
The key to choosing an effective remedy is to match it as precisely as possible to the profile of the people using it and their individual symptoms and nature in close detail.
The scientific debate over whether Homeopathy can possibly really work will go on; meanwhile, millions of people have had seemingly intractable health conditions cleared up beautifully by its careful use.
