Pelvic Correction could be the answer

Accidents and injuries are frequent causes, for example a side impact or falling heavily on one side. Carrying heavy loads on one side such as a child on one hip or heavy bag on one shoulder can also cause misalignment. Childbirth is a major cause in women.

 What an appointment involves

A series of simple checks will assess whether the pelvis is aligned correctly or not. If it is, other options will be discussed. If it is not, then general ‘warm-up’ techniques will be followed by appropriate assisted stretches to allow the muscles around the pelvis to pull it back into alignment. These can be taught to clients for home use and, over a period of time, can enable the pelvis to stabilise itself. Some gentle Shiatsu techniques will also be used to stabilise the area and relieve pain. No invasive manipulation is involved and no ‘clicking & crunching’ of joints. It is usually totally pain-free, but depends on the severity of the condition. Long-standing problems are likely to take longer to stabilise than recent ones.

The pelvis is at your centre: it supports the spine, and the legs and a huge range of muscles attach to it. If it is misaligned many of the central connections of the body will be under strain and being pulled in directions they shouldn’t be.

  My background

I am a qualified Shiatsu Practitioner, which includes some pelvic correction training. Additionally I have completed a diploma in the Alexander Barrie System of Pelvic Correction which is based on the Japanese ‘Sotai’ stretching system.
