Acupuncture Tui Na and Chinese Herbs
David Clyant BSc MAcu MCNHC

David brings many different skills and therapies to each session, using Acupuncture, Tui Na and Chinese Herbs. David may use one of these treatments or a combination of these treatments which enables him to select the best treatment plan from a wider perspective than most practitioners.
Each session will use one or more therapy out of Acupuncture, Tui Na and Chinese Herbs.

Acupuncture uses ultra fine needles and warm stimulation to promote well-being, release stagnation, ease pain and free the system from imbalance. There are many styles of Acupuncture and David uses Traditional Chinese, Auricular, Master Tungs points, Scalp Points and Wrist and Ankle systems to achieve the desired effect.
An old saying ‘If there’s no broken bones and no bleeding, Acupuncture can help’ highlights the assistance that Acupuncture can bring.

Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage)
Using the same approach to the body as Acupuncture, Tui Na (‘twee-nah’) is a clothed massage system that can vary in touch from being very light and gentle through to deep tissue manipulation. Tui Na is one of the oldest areas of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) and is one of the more complete bodywork systems as it relies on seeing the body from both a Western physiological perspective and also from the understanding of energy flow through the body. Tui Na is excellent for all types of bodily problems – from Sports Injury and recurring painful trauma through to regular migraine attacks.

Chinese Herbs
To assist the body to recover its sense of equilibrium Chinese Herbal Formulae are prescribed to enable the re-balancing to be achieved on an on-going basis away from the clinic. Herbal Formulae work within the same principles of TCM as Acupuncture and Tui Na and therefore combine exceptionally well. Herbal formulae are stringently tested for quality and come in a dry powder, tablet or capsule form and as such are easy to take on a regular basis.

Qi Gong Breathing Exercises
The Ba Duan Jin Medical Qi Gong set is the basis for enabling people with ailments to help themselves. Qi Gong is a gentle set of movements that acts along the same principles of TCM as Acupuncture and Tui Na. With regularly practiced exercises many people find that their ailments start to ease and finally stop. Qi Gong can be both curative and preventative and any form of Qi Gong, along with its associated form of Tai Chi, is highly recommended for continuing health benefits and peace of mind.

Energetic Awareness
As well as being a practitioner of Acupuncture, Tui Na and Chinese Herbs (Traditional Chinese Medicine), David is also a Senior Instructor of Tai Chi, Qi Gong and Kung Fu and has been practicing and subsequently teaching the Li Family System since 1979. With this in-depth training David has developed the ability to sense the overall energetic make-up of a person and help to bring balance from this wider perspective. In addition, simple meditation exercises given during a session can help a person to start controlling their own energy (‘Qi’) through development of correct intent (‘Yi’). From experience this has often shortened the number of treatments that are required to bring ease to an ailment.
