Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

Givens Kaonga-Dart Physiotherapist

.My name is Givens Kaonga-Dart I am a qualified Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist

and Pilates instructor. I have vast working experience in the NHS, private practice

and within different cultures and communities

PHYLOSOPHY

My philosophy is that the better the patient understands their condition the more

effective their participation in the treatment and management of their condition

thereby resulting in better treatment results. With this in mind the first consultation

involves taking an in depth history of the presenting condition followed by a

physical examination. Finally based on the findings from the examinations a treatment and management plan can then be discussed and agreed.

CONDITIONS

Physiotherapy has proved to be beneficial in the treatment and management of conditions such as;
- Neck and Back problems
- Headaches
- Dizziness
- Sports injuries
- Joint pains including arthritis.
- Chronic pain
- Post-Operative orthopaedic rehabilitation
- Work related problems (postural & RSI)

You can book a  telephone triage in which we can establish whether your condition can benefit from physiotherapy.

THE WHOLISTIC TREATMENT APPROACH

After working in Musculoskeletal Physiotherapy I realised that core muscle strengthening and flexibility play a major role in the treatment and management of most patients suffering from a variety of Joint and Muscle conditions. I therefore undertook Pilates training with the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute (APPI) in London 11 years ago. Since gaining Pilates skills and knowledge I’ve been instructing Pilates classes in and around Hereford. Patients have benefitted from a combined approach to my work of Hands on Physiotherapy and Exercises. And I have enjoyed applying the Pilates skills in building patient’s confidence in developing and maintain good body strength, balance and coordination.

I have a wide range of experience in the treatment and management of various conditions, using hands on; manual therapy, acupuncture, electrotherapy and exercise approach.

Pilates is a great passion of mine and I believe that good posture and controlled movements allows for prevention of injury recurrence and the maintenance of a good posture. Another added advantage is the body and mind connection helping to maintain a clear mind and calmness in our current hectic world leads to a patient centred approach that  apply various traditional physiotherapy techniques of manual therapy, electro therapy and Exercise therapy and acupuncture achieved my initial training was undertaken in Zambia and Cape Town South Africa and I the

I apply the Pilates principles in fitness training for those involved in other sports. I keep my classes to a small number 8 – 10 to ensure close inspection, allowing for personalised correction and progression. The classes so far are most enjoyable while working hard. Clients have a sense of achievement leading to increased body awareness, confidence and relaxed state of mind as they work on the body and mind connection. Pilates also allow for time out for the clients to focus on the keeping control of their movement, this quietens the mind leading to a relaxed individual with a healthy mental state.

This class targeted on the young stars promise fun. I am passionate about Pilates and greatly believe that good posture and controlled movements allows for prevention of injury recurrence and the maintenance of a good posture.
